The Q3 is the Q-Series at full scale. A true 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker โ five drivers, three dedicated operating ranges, a sealed midrange chamber, and dual 6ยฝโณ woofers in a bass-reflex enclosure tuned to 35 Hz. The same acoustic philosophy as the Q2, in a cabinet tall enough to house dual woofers in their own properly tuned enclosure and extend bass output to a level that a single-woofer design cannot match.
The Q3 cabinet is 1,200mm tall and 140mm deep. That combination โ full floorstanding height, shallow wall-compatible depth โ is the Q3's defining character. It stands on the floor with the scale and authority of a tower speaker. It mounts on a wall with the footprint of a flat panel. The acoustic result is the same in either position. The room decides which one it needs.

The Q3 uses five transducers from the Peerless HDS driver family across three dedicated frequency ranges. A 1ยผโณ Corundum dome tweeter above ~2,000 Hz. A dedicated 5ยผโณ Glass Fiber Composite midrange driver between ~350 Hz and ~2,000 Hz, in its own sealed chamber. Two 6ยฝโณ Glass Fiber Composite woofers operating in parallel below ~350 Hz, in a bass-reflex enclosure tuned to 35 Hz. Each driver operates exclusively within its designed range. The dual woofer pair โ wired in parallel โ presents a 4ฮฉ load to the amplifier in the bass band, the nominal impedance of the Q3 system.

Corundum โ aluminium oxide โ at 9/10 on the Mohs hardness scale. Dome resonance pushed well above the audible range. Flat response to 22 kHz and beyond. FEA-optimised underhung motor with copper cap pole piece reducing inductance and minimising distortion. Rear acoustic chamber acting as resonance tuner and thermal heatsink. Minimum crossover point of 1,200 Hz โ giving the Q3 crossover design latitude that most tweeter platforms at this price level do not provide. The same Corundum dome used across every Q-Series model, ensuring tonal consistency throughout the system.

5ยผโณ Glass Fiber Composite dedicated midrange
A dedicated 5ยผโณ midrange driver operating exclusively in the vocal and instrumental band between ~350 Hz and ~2,000 Hz โ free of both the bass loading below it and the upper frequency demands above it. The Glass Fiber Composite cone combines fibreglass rigidity with controlled damping. The ferrite motor incorporates an aluminium shorting ring reducing voice coil inductance across the operating range. A vented cast aluminium chassis manages thermal loading. Free air resonance of 66 Hz places the driver's mechanical limit well below its operating range โ at ~350 Hz it is operating in the most linear region of its excursion capability. Housed in a sealed midrange chamber fully isolated from the dual woofer enclosure.

Two 6ยฝโณ Glass Fiber Composite woofers operating in parallel in the bass-reflex enclosure, tuned to 35 Hz. The combined cone area of two 6ยฝโณ drivers is equivalent to a single ~9.2โณ driver โ providing the bass output, dynamic headroom, and excursion distribution that a single woofer cannot match at this cabinet depth. Wired in parallel, the dual woofer pair presents a 4ฮฉ load in the bass band โ the source of the Q3's 4ฮฉ nominal impedance.
Each woofer operates exclusively below ~350 Hz, free of the midrange loading that a conventional 2-way bass driver carries. Free air resonance of 46 Hz and 10.68mm peak-to-peak linear excursion per driver give the pair genuine authority to 35 Hz in the Q3's reflex alignment โ with excursion demand distributed across both cones, each operating well within its linear limit at realistic listening levels.
The Q3's dual woofer configuration does something a single-woofer design cannot: it separates excursion demand across two cones simultaneously. At 35 Hz in a 140mm-deep cabinet, each woofer operates at half the excursion a single driver would require for equivalent output โ reducing distortion, reducing thermal stress, and maintaining dynamic composure at output levels that would push a single woofer toward its limits. The 3-way topology means neither woofer carries any midrange content. Five drivers. Three jobs. Each driver doing only what it was designed to do.
Signal integration
The crossover is where the speaker is truly designed.
The Q3 crossover is a 3-way network managing five drivers across two crossover boundaries. The dual woofer pair crosses to the dedicated midrange driver at ~350 Hz. The midrange crosses to the Corundum dome tweeter at ~2,000 Hz. Between those boundaries, the 5ยผโณ midrange operates in the most critical band in music โ free of bass loading below and high-frequency demands above.
The parallel wiring of the dual woofer pair to 4ฮฉ is accounted for explicitly in the crossover network โ the low-frequency filter is designed around the combined 4ฮฉ impedance of the parallel pair, not the individual 8ฮฉ drivers. LCR impedance linearisation presents a stable, predictable load across the full frequency range despite the impedance difference between the woofer band (4ฮฉ) and the midrange and tweeter bands (8ฮฉ). Resonance suppression networks at each driver's mechanical limit. Phase-aligned integration across both crossover boundaries. The assembly uses quality film capacitors and air-core inductors.

The Q3 cabinet is V&Y's own design โ a full-height flat-profile tower enclosure built around the acoustic requirements of a 3-way system with three acoustically separate volumes: a sealed midrange chamber, a bass-reflex dual woofer enclosure tuned to 35 Hz, and a dedicated crossover section. At 1,200mm tall and 140mm deep, the Q3 occupies a unique position in loudspeaker design โ full floorstanding scale in a shallow-depth cabinet that can stand against a wall or be wall-mounted without the room intrusion of a conventional floorstander.
Acoustic architecture
Three acoustic volumes
A sealed midrange chamber isolates the 5ยผโณ midrange driver from the woofer enclosure and port volume entirely โ the acoustic separation that defines 3-way performance. A separate bass-reflex woofer enclosure tuned to 35 Hz occupies the lower section of the cabinet. A dedicated crossover section is isolated from both acoustic volumes. Three acoustic environments within one 140mm-deep cabinet.
Bass loading
Down-firing reflex alignment, 35 Hz
Down-firing bass reflex port, tuned to 35 Hz โ the lowest port tuning in the Q-Series. The larger internal volume of the Q3 cabinet relative to the Q2 allows this lower alignment, extending bass output 10 Hz deeper. The down-firing orientation functions in both floor placement and wall mounting โ in wall placement, floor and wall boundary reinforcement supplement the alignment. At 35 Hz extension, the Q3 is capable of full-range performance without a subwoofer in most rooms.
Floor or wall placement
140mm depth โ floor-standing and wall-compatible
At 140mm depth, the Q3 can be placed against a wall in a conventional floorstanding position without occupying significant room depth. It can also be wall-mounted on heavy-duty brackets โ at 1,200mm tall, a wall-mounted Q3 pair creates a full-height acoustic panel against the wall surface. This installation is particularly suited to dedicated cinema rooms where floor space is allocated to seating rather than speaker placement. Confirm bracket specification and weight capacity before wall mounting โ actual cabinet weight must be verified before bracket selection.

Resonance-controlled enclosure
High-density natural wood composite construction with internal bracing at positions calculated to suppress panel resonance modes across the full operating range of a 1,200mm tall cabinet. Standing wave minimised internal geometry. Moisture-resistant and dimensionally stable over decades of use. Non-parallel internal walls reduce internal standing wave formation.
Surface
Multi-stage hand-applied finish
Each cabinet passes through a controlled multi-stage coating process โ flat-sanded between coats, inspected under raking light, cleared only when it meets our written surface specification. At 1,200mm tall, the finishing process is more demanding than for a bookshelf cabinet. The standard does not change. Available in all five V&Y finishes.

Amplifier pairing.
The Q3's dual woofers wired in parallel present a 4ฮฉ nominal load with a minimum of approximately 3.3ฮฉ. The amplifier must be rated stable into 4ฮฉ loads โ not all amplifiers described as "4ฮฉ compatible" deliver full rated power at this impedance. We recommend a minimum of 60W into 4ฮฉ from an amplifier with a rated 4ฮฉ output specification. Receivers rated only into 8ฮฉ should not be used with the Q3. The Q3 is the Q-Series at its full capability. At 35 Hz extension and 109 dB maximum SPL per pair from dual 6ยฝโณ woofers, it delivers full-range bass reproduction without a subwoofer in most rooms โ and anchors a complete Q-Series cinema system with the authority that five drivers across three operating ranges provides. In stereo, the 3-way architecture's midrange clarity and the dual woofer bass authority produce a full-range presentation that larger rooms and demanding programme material can require.
For home cinema deployment, the Q3's bass extension removes the practical requirement for a subwoofer in many room configurations โ or crosses seamlessly to a C-Series or D-Series subwoofer where additional extension is needed. The same Corundum dome tweeter across every Q-Series model ensures tonal consistency from front to surround throughout the system.
