Cinema 18

The C18s achieves 125dB at 1 metre with a quality 600W external amplifier. In a properly treated room with front-wall placement, in-room extension reaches approximately 21Hz — territory that most audiophile subwoofers cannot approach regardless of price.

Description

Not every room demands the same solution.
The C18s is built for rooms where a single driver, perfectly engineered, is enough — and in most dedicated cinema rooms, it is far more than enough.

The front face

Polished Aluminium.
From baffle to edge.

The C18s front baffle is machined from a single billet of 6082-T6 aluminium — the same alloy grade used in aerospace structural components. It is hand-polished to a mirror standard through an eight-stage process, then sealed with automotive clear lacquer.

No apertures. No port holes. No visible hardware. The polished face presents one element: the driver. Every other brand at this tier has port holes, logos, or panel seams. The C18s has none of these.

01

Neodymium ring motor architecture

A neodymium ring magnet motor delivers a uniform, high-density magnetic field across the entire voice coil travel. Combined with dual aluminium demodulation rings, harmonic distortion is measurably reduced even at extended excursion — critical at cinema reference levels.

02

4.65″ voice coil — sustained cinema use

The 118mm voice coil former provides the thermal mass to sustain two-hour cinema sessions at reference levels without compression. A 3" voice coil in a high-excursion driver experiences thermal compression within 20 minutes at reference SPL. The C18s does not.

03

Sealed alignment — Qtc 0.68

The sealed enclosure is tuned to a system Q of 0.68 — the correct alignment for a passive cinema subwoofer without DSP correction. Transient response is fast and controlled. The roll-off below resonance is predictable and linear, compatible with any room correction system the integrator deploys.

Cabinet engineering

Built to a standard.
Not a price point.

All internal dimensions, bracing positions, and panel thicknesses are governed by acoustic engineering requirements — not manufacturing convenience.

Passive design

Your amplifier.
Your DSP.
Your room.

In-room frequency extension figures assume front-wall placement in a treated cinema room. Boundary gain of approximately 6–8dB below 80Hz is expected in this configuration. Integrators using Trinnov Altitude, Datasat, or Dirac Live room correction can extend in-room response further through controlled parametric EQ. All measurements subject to acoustic engineer verification at prototype sign-off.
Ownership

Built for decades. Backed without conditions.

Home trial

60 days in your room

The only meaningful audition is in your own space, on your own system. The X1 arrives at your door. You listen. If after 60 days it does not belong in that room, contact us and we arrange collection. No restocking fee. No conditions. No questions that require an answer.

Warranty

Ten years. Transferable.

Full parts and labour coverage for ten years from the date of purchase. The warranty transfers to subsequent owners on private resale — register the new owner and full coverage continues. We build loudspeakers intended to last a generation. The warranty reflects that intention.

Support

Direct to the engineers

V&Y concierge support connects you directly to the people who designed the X1 — for setup, room placement, amplifier pairing, and long-term system guidance. No call centres. No support tickets. The person who answers understands the speaker from the inside.

Direct to customer

No intermediaries. Ever.

V&Y sells exclusively direct. No importers, no dealers, no showrooms. The price you see is the price you pay — worldwide shipping and all applicable duties and taxes included. Every element of the customer relationship remains with us, from order to ownership.

Finish options

Five finishes. All hand-applied. All to specification.

Each finish is applied in controlled stages. Coats are flat-sanded between applications. Every surface is inspected under raking light before the next layer is added. The cabinet clears our facility only when it meets a written surface specification — not a visual judgment, a documented standard.
