Q1
Q1 Bookshelf Speaker
A compact 2-way loudspeaker built around a 1¼″ Corundum dome tweeter and a 5¼″ Glass Fiber Composite midwoofer. Designed for stand mounting and wall mounting equally — a flat-baffle cabinet with a down-firing port that works with any placement. The Q-Series entry point: precision engineering, direct pricing, and the same 60-day trial and 10-year warranty as every V&Y model.

Q3
3-Way Floorstanding Loudspeaker
Every decision is acoustic.
The Q1 is built to work wherever it is placed. On stands in a dedicated listening room. Mounted on a wall in a living space where floor area is a consideration. The flat-baffle cabinet and down-firing port are designed to function in both contexts — the port fires downward regardless of placement orientation, and wall boundary reinforcement supplements the bass alignment when the cabinet is wall-mounted. One speaker. Two placements. The same acoustic performance in either.
Two drivers. Engineered for coherence.
1¼″ Corundum dome tweeter
Corundum — aluminium oxide — scores 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it one of the hardest materials in nature. As a tweeter dome, this extreme rigidity pushes the dome's resonance frequency well above the audible range, keeping frequency response flat to 22 kHz and beyond with negligible coloration from mechanical modes. The underhung voice coil on a vented aluminium former operates with ample linear excursion — allowing crossover frequencies as low as 1,200 Hz without mechanical stress, giving V&Y's crossover significant design latitude in integrating the tweeter with the midwoofer below it. An FEA-optimised motor assembly with a thick copper cap on the pole piece reduces inductance and minimises distortion. A rear acoustic chamber serves as both a resonance tuner and a thermal heatsink, extending power handling and reducing dynamic compression at sustained output levels.
6½″ Glass Fiber Composite midwoofer
A 6½″ midwoofer with a Glass Fiber Composite (GFC) cone — a fiberglass-reinforced composite material combining the stiffness of fibreglass with controlled damping behaviour. The GFC cone resists pistonic breakup modes, extending clean midrange response toward the crossover point. The ferrite motor incorporates an aluminium shorting ring that reduces voice coil inductance — extending frequency response performance and reducing second harmonic distortion through the crossover region. A cast aluminium basket provides structural rigidity and thermal management. Under-spider and vented cone neck ventilation reduce air compression effects at higher excursion levels, maintaining dynamic composure at realistic listening levels.
A free air resonance of 46 Hz and 10.68mm peak-to-peak linear excursion give this driver genuine bass authority within V&Y's reflex alignment — the bass register of the Q1 is produced by a driver that is not operating near its mechanical limits at realistic output levels.
The crossover is where the speaker is truly designed.
Low-loss network topology with resonance suppression networks at each driver's mechanical limit. Impedance linearisation for a stable, amplifier-friendly 8 Ω load across the full frequency range. Phase-aligned integration at the crossover point. The assembly uses quality film capacitors and air-core inductors — the same crossover design discipline as the X-Series and R-Series, applied to the Q-Series driver platform.
~2,000 Hz
Both drivers operating within their natural range. Corundum's 1,200 Hz minimum provides significant design margin above.
Low-loss
Resonance suppression networks. Impedance linearised. Stable 8 Ω load throughout.
Time-aligned
Phase-aligned at the crossover point for coherent imaging at the listening position.
Built for the stand and the wall equally.
Diffraction-controlled flat baffle
The flat baffle profile is shaped to minimise high-frequency edge diffraction — the reflections from cabinet boundaries that broaden the acoustic image. Driver placement is calculated against the baffle geometry to displace diffraction artefacts outside the critical listening band. The flat baffle also serves the wall-mount use case: there is no projecting geometry that creates installation complexity on a bracket.
Down-firing reflex alignment, 43 Hz
Down-firing bass reflex port, tuned to 43 Hz. The port fires downward from the cabinet base in all installation positions. Wall-mounted, the port fires downward along the wall surface with floor and wall boundary reinforcement supplementing the alignment. The 6½″ midwoofer's free air resonance of 46 Hz and generous excursion capability provide bass extension to 46 Hz (±3 dB) — authoritative bass from a compact cabinet in any placement.
Bracket-ready, 140mm depth profile
The Q1's cabinet depth of 140mm allows placement on standard shallow-profile wall brackets without significant room protrusion. The flat rear panel mounts directly against a bracket. Optimal wall-mount placement is at ear level for the primary listening position, angled toward the listening area. Keyhole mounts and dedicated bracket options are available.
Resonance-controlled enclosure
High-density natural wood composite construction, internally braced at positions calculated to suppress panel resonance modes. Moisture-resistant and dimensionally stable over decades of use in both installation contexts.
Multi-stage hand-applied finish
Each cabinet passes through a controlled multi-stage coating process — flat-sanded between coats, inspected under raking light, cleared only when it meets our written surface specification. The same finishing standard as every V&Y model. Available in all five V&Y finishes.
