3-Way Floorstanding Loudspeaker
Every decision is acoustic.
The result is a loudspeaker with a coherent point of view โ one where cabinet volume, baffle geometry, crossover topology, and driver integration are resolved as a single acoustic problem, not assembled from independent solutions. This is the discipline that separates a loudspeaker system from a collection of parts.
One material. Two transducers. Total coherence.
A single material across both drivers is a deliberate system decision. It gives the X1 a coherent character from deep bass through to the upper treble โ the kind of tonal unity that is difficult to achieve when different diaphragm materials meet at the crossover point.
29mm TeXtremeยฎ dome, waveguide-loaded
A spread-tow carbon composite dome, driven by a neodymium motor system with dual copper caps that hold voice coil inductance to 0.02 mH โ near-zero variation across the operating band. The integrated cast aluminum waveguide is structural, not decorative: it controls directivity above the crossover point, ensuring that the power response in the room remains consistent rather than narrowing on-axis. The resonance frequency of 635 Hz places the driver's mechanical limit well below any operating stress at the crossover point.
6ยฝโณ TeXtremeยฎ cone, long-excursion
A woven spread-tow carbon cone combining the two properties that most directly govern midrange resolution and transient accuracy: high rigidity and low moving mass. The neodymium motor uses an extended copper sleeve on the pole piece to suppress inductance modulation across the excursion range โ reducing dynamic compression and preserving detail at all output levels. A vented cast aluminum chassis manages thermal loading and eliminates internal airflow coloration. Free air resonance of 29 Hz allows the driver genuine authority in the bass register within V&Y's reflex alignment.
TeXtremeยฎ
TeXtremeยฎ is a spread-tow carbon fiber material developed for aerospace and Formula 1 applications. Where conventional woven carbon creates undulation as fibers cross over one another โ introducing resonance modes into the diaphragm โ spread-tow weave flattens each tow into a thin tape before weaving, virtually eliminating undulation. The result is a stiffer, lighter diaphragm with a higher pistonic operating range and lower distortion at breakup. Both drivers in the X1 use TeXtremeยฎ as their sole diaphragm material โ a choice that gives the system acoustic coherence from 29 Hz to 30 kHz.
The crossover is where the speaker is truly designed.
Exceptional transducers are the starting point. The crossover is where a loudspeaker system is actually resolved โ where the acoustic, electrical, and mechanical behaviour of each driver is brought into a coherent whole.
The X1 crossover is designed around the precise properties of this driver configuration. The waveguide-loaded TW29 tweeter presents a fundamentally different impedance curve, off-axis behaviour, and sensitivity offset from standard dome variants. The network accounts for these properties explicitly: impedance linearisation topology across the full frequency range; parallel LCR networks that suppress driver breakup resonances without compromising transient integrity; and phase-aligned integration at the ~2,200 Hz crossover point.
A single series inductor in the low-frequency path preserves the midwoofer's natural transient character. The tweeter network is optimised for controlled directivity through and above the crossover region โ ensuring that what the listener hears off-axis is not a degraded version of the on-axis response, but a consistent acoustic image. The X1 is designed to sound like itself in any room, not only in an anechoic chamber.
~2,200 Hz
Set at the directivity-optimised transition between waveguide-loaded tweeter and midwoofer.
LCR, linearised
Parallel resonance suppression. Impedance linearisation. Stable load across the full frequency range.
Time-aligned
Both drivers arrive at the listening position in phase through the cabinet design and the crossover region.
Precision has a geometry.
Multi-stage hand-applied finish
Each cabinet passes through a controlled multi-stage coating process. Coats are flat-sanded between applications and inspected under raking light. The cabinet leaves our facility only when it meets our written surface specification โ not a judgment call, a standard. Available in Gloss Black, Gloss White, Satin Black, and Satin White.
Diffraction-controlled baffle geometry
Baffle edge profile is shaped to suppress high-frequency diffraction โ the reflections from cabinet boundaries that broaden the acoustic image and introduce tonal coloration in square-edged designs. Driver placement is calculated against baffle dimensions to displace diffraction artefacts outside the critical listening band, preserving imaging focus and tonal neutrality at the listening position.
Boundary-stabilised reflex alignment
Down-firing bass reflex port, tuned to 36.5 Hz. The port is positioned at the cabinet base to use floor boundary reinforcement in extending low-frequency loading โ and to keep port turbulence, and the noise it generates at elevated output levels, away from the primary listening axis. Internal port geometry is developed to minimise flow-induced noise across the X1's dynamic range.
Resonance-controlled enclosure
High-density natural wood composite construction, internally braced at positions calculated to break the primary panel resonance modes. The material is moisture-resistant and dimensionally stable โ the cabinet maintains its acoustic geometry over decades of use. A loudspeaker built to last a generation must perform like one throughout.

Amplifier pairing.
At 88 dB sensitivity and 4 ฮฉ nominal impedance, the X1 is designed for a capable solid-state amplifier with stable current delivery into low-impedance loads. It is not optimised for low-power SET or OTL topologies. A minimum of 50 W into 4 ฮฉ, with a damping factor above 50, is recommended. Our team is available to advise on specific pairings before purchase.
Stereo. Cinema. Resolved equally.
For full X-Series system deployment, the X1 pairs with the X4 Center Channel, X5 or X7 Surround, X6 Atmos, and the C-Series or D-Series subwoofers. Every model in the X-Series shares the same TeXtremeยฎ driver platform and finishing standard, ensuring tonal consistency throughout the system.
Built for decades. Backed without conditions.
60 days in your room
The only meaningful audition is in your own space, on your own system. The X1 arrives at your door. You listen. If after 60 days it does not belong in that room, contact us and we arrange collection. No restocking fee. No conditions. No questions that require an answer.
Ten years. Transferable.
Full parts and labour coverage for ten years from the date of purchase. The warranty transfers to subsequent owners on private resale โ register the new owner and full coverage continues. We build loudspeakers intended to last a generation. The warranty reflects that intention.
